Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 p.a. plus super

About the Job
Role Duties
• Supervision of crop work and harvest teams and activities.
• Ensure scheduled crops for intended harvest have passed the withholding period
• Ensure that all harvest and crop work equipment is maintained.
• Ensure crop work and harvesting is performed to suit conditions of crop and variety.
• Liaison with other teams including packing and maintenance.
• Ensure quality of crop work and harvest.
• Identify and report unusual disease or plant pest signs
• Ensure the safe and correct transport and storage of chemicals
• Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases
• Implement growing and harvest programs
• Establish horticultural crops
• Carry out emergency disease or plant pest control procedures at infected premises
• Coordinate work site activities
• Assist with the regulation of Regulate crops
• Analyse glasshouse production data and provide productivity reports including overweight and waste.

Workplace Health and Safety
• Support employees and managers to achieve best practice Safety, Health and Environment by implementing the safety management system and processes with the maintenance team
• Participate in risk assessments, safety/quality walks, checks/audits/ inspections as required.
• Take reasonable care of his/her own health and safety and for the safety of others who may be affected by his/her acts or omissions at work.
• Be familiar with, understand and adhere to Company OHS&W policies and procedures in line with the standards of Costa Group and the requirements of the WH&S Act
• Work in accordance with the policies and procedures of Costa Group, as amended from time to time

Skills/Qualifications and Experience Required for the Role
• At least relevant AQF Cert III or Cert IV qualifications or equivalent OR3 years employment experience as a production horticulturalist with relevant formal training OR 5 years employment experience as a production horticulturalist with no formal training.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a tomato glasshouse environment, preferably with experience in all areas of crop work.
• A good knowledge of tomato crop nutrition, pest and disease management and growing strategies.
• Proven ability to monitor the crop and glasshouse environment, identify and investigate issues and make timely reports and recommendations.
• Good understanding and ability to use relevant glasshouse management systems including Priva and Nitea.
• Good communication skills and the ability to effectively lead a team.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
• Be outcome focused with a track record of achieving performance, quality and safety targets.
• Excellent attention to detail, time management and organisational skills;
• Good IT skills including the use of MS excel and Outlook.
• Commitment to WHS, quality, hygiene and food safety.
