Job Summary

The Registered Nurse serves as a leader of the healthcare team at Novant Health by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their chosen support system, collaborating with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care that promotes optimal health or supports a peaceful death. The Registered Nurse utilizes best scientific evidence and compassion to assist the patient in navigating their health journey. The Registered Nurse accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures.

What you need to have in your toolbox:

A 4 Year / bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of nursing is required.
1 year of relevant experience
Licensure/Certification

Current RN licensure in appropriate state Required
Advanced certifications as required per facility
Note: If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. To be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.

We’ll share more detailed information if you’re interested but, in this role, you will create and improve the patient experience through:

• Assessment: Demonstrates refined assessment skills to collaboratively discover the patient's story.

• Planning: Dialogues with the patient/chosen support system to identify what is important to them and incorporate his/her preferences and norms into the individualized care plan.

• Implementation of Interdisciplinary Plan of Care: Acts with patient advocacy at the core of nursing care when implementing the interdisciplinary plan of care. Ability to perform in critical situations including administering CPR.

• Evaluation: Continuously assesses patient's progress toward goals and outcomes.

• Communication and Documentation: Communicates individualized plan of care and patient's progress toward goals to all members of the care team including the patient and his/her chosen support system.

• Delegation: Appropriately delegates to ensure the implementation of the plan of care while ensuring patient safety, considering the nature of the task, competence of the delegate, and the patient's response.

• Performance Accountability/Evidence-Based Practice: Demonstrates independence in the foundation of nursing care practice within the specialty. Practice according to your state's Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code of Ethics and ANA Bill of Rights.

• Teamwork: Develops and maintains positive relationships with team members/internal customers. Consistently demonstrates a willingness to adjust activities to accommodate the needs of team members/internal customers.

The team member will use Novant Health’s First Do No Harm (NHFDNH) safety behaviors/error prevention tools and high reliability strategies as appropriate to ensure a safe, remarkable patient experience.

Other

May require the use of safety equipment, such as HEPA mask, for infection prevention.
On Call responsibilities as directed.
Ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed.

OSHA Category I - Routine/anticipated exposure.
